All Commincation Officers are trained as Emergency Medical Dispatchers. They have been trained in EMD for fire and medical dispatch. Our goal is to see that all personnel complete and continue education in this field.

The Communications Center is equipped with the Enhanced 9-1-1 (E-911).  Enhanced 9-1-1 is a system that provides the Communication Center personnel with the location (coordinates, address, bulding floor, etc.) information of the 9-1-1 caller. This information is critical when providing immediate emergency services to citizens in need. The E-911 system automatically records the caller's phone number and call information in case the call is disconnected or lost.  If this happens, the Communications Officer instantly dials the number displayed by the caller. If there is no answer, law enforcement is dispatched to the location of the phone call to investigate.

If you call 9-1-1 in error, please do not hang up.  Please stay on the line and explain your situation to the Communications Officer.
